Band Fixed Back Close-Grip Pulldown

The close-grip band pulldown with the band anchored straight overhead and the back held fixed, so the hands travel straight down to the chest.

How to do it

Setup

Seated upright on a box under the anchor, both ends held close together, arms long straight up.

Steps

  1. Pull the hands straight down to the upper chest.
  2. Hold the back fixed and upright through the pull.
  3. Return the arms straight up under control.

Common mistakes

Swaying back to finish the rep: the fixed back is the point; take a lighter band. Hands separating on the way down: they travel together. Stopping short of the chest: bring the hands all the way down.

Breathing

Exhale on the pull, inhale returning.
