Band Cross Abduction

The standing hip abduction against a band stood on with both feet and crossed in front of the shins, the ends held at the hips.

How to do it

Setup

Standing on the band with both feet, the ends crossed in front of the legs and held at the hips, feet hip-width.

Steps

  1. Shift the weight to one leg and sweep the other out to the side.
  2. Keep the hands fixed at the hips so the band does the resisting.
  3. Return the foot and repeat; switch sides after the set.

Common mistakes

Hands drifting down to slacken the band: keep them at the hips. Leaning over the standing leg: stay tall. Leg swinging back instead of out: sweep straight to the side.

Breathing

Exhale on the sweep, inhale returning.
