Band Chest Fly

With the band behind your back, open slightly bent arms wide and bring them together in front of the chest; the band resists hardest where the chest is strongest.

Band Chest Fly, illustrated

How to do it

Setup

Band behind the back at chest height, ends in both hands, arms wide with soft elbows.

Steps

  1. Bring the slightly bent arms together in front of the chest.
  2. Squeeze at the middle.
  3. Open with control against the band's pull inward... outward resistance.

Common mistakes

Elbow angle collapsing into a press: freeze the soft bend. Band slipping on the back: anchor it across the blades first. Short openings: the stretch is half the fly.

Breathing

Exhale on the squeeze, inhale opening.
