Backwards Run
Running backwards on the balls of the feet; the thighs work in a way forward running does not, with a gentler load on the knees.
How to do it
Setup
Flat, clear ground behind you, standing tall, arms bent as for running.
Steps
- Reach back with one foot and land on its ball.
- Push off the front foot and keep a short, quick stride.
- Glance over the shoulder often and log the distance and time.
Common mistakes
Running blind: check the path over the shoulder every few steps. Landing on the heels: stay on the balls of the feet. Long reaching strides: short and quick keeps the balance.
Breathing
Steady with the rhythm.
