Backward Jump
A two-footed jump backward out of a half squat, landing in a squat; you cannot see the landing spot, so it stays short and controlled.
How to do it
Setup
Standing, feet hip-width, arms forward, clear floor behind you.
Steps
- Sit into a half squat, chest over the knees.
- Push through the balls of the feet and jump backward.
- Land on the balls of the feet, then the whole foot, knees bent.
Common mistakes
Jumping long: backward jumps stay short; you cannot see where you land. Leaning back in the air: keep the chest over the feet so you land balanced. Stiff landings: bend the knees and hips as the feet touch.
Breathing
Exhale on the jump, inhale landing.
