Assisted Seated Pectoralis Major Stretch with Stability Ball

The partner chest stretch with a stability ball behind the back: seated on the floor, the partner draws both bent arms back by the elbows.

How to do it

Setup

Seated tall on the floor, a stability ball against the back, elbows bent out to the sides, a partner behind holding them.

Steps

  1. Sit tall against the ball, the shoulders down.
  2. The partner eases both elbows back until the chest opens over the ball.
  3. Hold and breathe, then let the partner ease the arms forward.

Common mistakes

Sagging back into the ball: sit tall and only lean on it. Partner pulling in a jerk: ask for a slow draw and say stop at a firm stretch. Shrugging as the elbows go back: keep the shoulders low.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
