Alternate Shoulder Flexion Back to Wall
Back flat against a wall, raise one straight arm forward and up toward the wall overhead, lower it, then raise the other.
How to do it
Setup
Standing with the head, upper back and hips on a wall, feet a little out from it, arms down.
Steps
- Raise one straight arm forward and up until the hand nears the wall.
- Keep the lower back and the head on the wall as it rises.
- Lower it slowly and raise the other arm.
Common mistakes
Lower back arching off the wall: stop the arm where the back would leave. Elbow bending to reach the wall: arm straight, less height. Shoulder shrugging to the ear: keep it down as the arm rises.
Breathing
Exhale on the raise, inhale lowering.
