Standing Quadriceps Stretch

Side-on to a wall with one hand on it, the other hand holds the ankle of the bent leg and the heel comes in toward the buttock; the front of the thigh stretches.

How to do it

Setup

Standing side-on to a wall, the near arm straight with the palm on it, the far hand holding the ankle of the leg bent behind.

Steps

  1. Bring the heel toward the buttock, the bent knee pointing at the floor.
  2. Stand tall and push the hip of the bent leg slightly forward.
  3. Hold and breathe, then lower the foot and turn to do the other leg.

Common mistakes

Bent knee drifting forward or out: keep it next to the standing knee. Leaning the chest forward: stand tall so the thigh, not the back, takes it. Heel yanked hard onto the buttock: ease it in to a firm stretch.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
