Standing Leg Tuck Hip Stretch

The far leg crossed onto a table beside you, sink and lean forward; the buttock of the raised leg stretches.

How to do it

Setup

Standing side-on to a table, the far leg's foot up on it, crossing in front.

Steps

  1. Let the raised leg relax on the table.
  2. Bend the standing knee and lean the chest forward.
  3. Sink until the buttock stretches; hold, then switch sides.

Common mistakes

Rounding the back to go lower: lead with the chest. Table too high for the hip: pick a lower one so the knee does not twist. Pushing into knee pain: the stretch belongs in the buttock; back off.

Breathing

Exhale leaning in, then breathe slowly in the hold.
