Standing Balance Quadriceps Stretch

Balancing on one leg with no support, the other heel is drawn to the buttock; the stretch comes with a balance challenge.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall on one leg, eyes on a fixed point, no support.

Steps

  1. Bend one knee and take that foot behind you with the same-side hand.
  2. Knees together, draw the heel toward the buttock.
  3. Tuck the pelvis slightly; hold, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Knee swinging forward or out: keep it beside the standing knee. Arching the back to pull harder: tuck the pelvis instead. Wobbling: fix the eyes on one spot, or touch a wall briefly.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
