Standing Back Rotation Stretch

Arms crossed on the chest, turn the shoulders to one side over still hips; the hands nudge the turn further.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, feet shoulder-width, arms crossed flat on the chest.

Steps

  1. Rotate the shoulders slowly to one side, hips square.
  2. Nudge a little further with the hands.
  3. Hold, then turn back and go the other way.

Common mistakes

Hips swiveling along: square them to the front; the turn happens above them. Slumping in the turn: stay tall. Wrenching with the hands: a gentle nudge only.

Breathing

Exhale into the turn, then breathe evenly in the hold.
