Stability Ball Crunch (Full Range Hands Behind Head)

The ball crunch through the whole range: from the back arched over the ball to the trunk nearly upright, the hands behind the head.

How to do it

Setup

Lower back on the ball, feet planted wide, hands behind the head, the upper back arched back over the ball.

Steps

  1. Curl up from the arch until the trunk is nearly upright.
  2. Keep the lower back in contact with the ball.
  3. Lower slowly back into the full arch over the ball.

Common mistakes

Cutting the range at either end: the arch and the tall finish are this variant. Ball rolling as you rise: plant the feet wide and move slowly. Pulling on the head: the hands only support it.

Breathing

Exhale on the crunch, inhale on the stretch.
