Sitting Isometric Hamstring Curl Hold with Stability Ball

Seated on a bench end with a stability ball behind the calves, press the heels back into the ball and hold; the hamstrings work without moving.

How to do it

Setup

Seated tall at the bench end, a stability ball wedged between the calves and the bench, feet on the floor, hands on the bench.

Steps

  1. Press the calves and heels back into the ball.
  2. Hold and breathe; time it.
  3. Ease off the press slowly at the end.

Common mistakes

Pushing by leaning back: sit tall; the legs do the pressing. Squeezing so hard the ball shoots out: firm, steady pressure. Breath held to push harder: keep breathing evenly.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
