Side to Side Leg Swings
Facing a support, swing one straight leg across the body and out to the side; the outer and inner thigh take turns through the range.
How to do it
Setup
Facing a rack or rail, both hands on it, standing tall on one leg.
Steps
- Swing the free leg across in front of the standing leg.
- Swing it back out to the side as far as the hip allows.
- Keep the hips facing the support; switch legs after the set.
Common mistakes
Twisting the hips to swing further: they stay square to the support. Leaning over the standing leg: stand tall. Bending the knee of the swinging leg: keep it long.
Breathing
Steady with the rhythm.
