Side-to-Side Jump Rope
Two-footed skipping that hops a little to one side, then the other, on each turn; the ankles and hips work sideways.
How to do it
Setup
Rope sized so the handles reach the armpits when stood on; elbows in.
Steps
- Hop a little to one side with both feet as the rope passes.
- Hop back to the other side on the next turn.
- Keep the hops low and the feet together.
Common mistakes
Hopping too far sideways: a hand's width is enough; the rope sets the pace. Feet splitting apart: they move as one. Leaning the torso with the hops: the legs move, the chest stays over the feet.
Breathing
Steady with the rhythm.
