Seated Glute Stretch

Seated with one leg long, lift the other shin across the chest and lean toward its foot; the turned-out hip stretches through the buttock.

How to do it

Setup

Seated on the floor, one leg straight, the other shin lifted across the chest, one hand on the floor behind.

Steps

  1. Hold the lifted knee from underneath with the free hand.
  2. Lean the chest toward the lifted foot until the buttock stretches.
  3. Hold and breathe, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Pulling the foot toward the face: bring the chest to the shin instead. Rounding hard to get closer: lean from the hips with a long back. Strain in the knee of the lifted leg: support the knee and ease the angle.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
