Rope Trainer Lat Pulldown

The lat pulldown on an endless-rope trainer: seated, you draw the rope down from overhead hand over hand, the way a climber takes rope.

How to do it

Setup

Seated on the bench facing the rope, both hands gripping it overhead, arms long.

Steps

  1. Pull one hand down to the chest while the other reaches up and regrips higher.
  2. Keep drawing the rope hand over hand in a steady rhythm.
  3. Stay tall on the seat, the back and arms doing the pulling.

Common mistakes

Leaning back to haul the rope: stay upright; the lats pull, not the body's weight. Short choppy pulls: reach high and bring each hand all the way to the chest. Loose grip on the regrip: close the hand fully before it pulls.

Breathing

Steady with the rhythm.
