Reverse Crunch

Lying down, curl the knees toward the chest and lift the hips off the floor; the pelvis moves, not the legs.

Reverse Crunch, illustrated

How to do it

Setup

On your back, hands at the sides or holding a support overhead; knees bent over the hips.

Steps

  1. Curl the hips off the floor, knees toward the chest.
  2. Control the lift – no swinging.
  3. Lower the hips slowly until they touch down.

Common mistakes

Swinging the legs for momentum: the hips CURL up, not swing. Neck straining: head stays down. Dropping the hips: slow lowering is the growth half.

Breathing

Exhale curling up, inhale lowering.
