Planche Dip on Parallel Bars

The full planche push-up on a pair of low parallel bars: the body held level above the bars, lowered and pressed on the hands alone.

How to do it

Setup

Hands on two low parallel bars, shoulders leaned far past the wrists until the straight body and legs float level above them.

Steps

  1. Lower the body level between the bars by bending the elbows back.
  2. Stop with the chest at the height of the hands.
  3. Drive back up to locked arms, the legs never dropping.

Common mistakes

Trying it before a planche on the floor: master the floor planche push-up first. Legs dropping as the arms bend: keep the whole body level. Elbows flaring out over the bars: keep them close and pointing back.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale pressing.
