Pilates Machine Lying Calf Raise
Lying on a reformer's carriage with the balls of the feet on the footbar and the legs straight, the heels drop under the bar and rise, pushing the carriage.
How to do it
Setup
Lying on the carriage, head on the rest, balls of the feet on the footbar, legs straight and together.
Steps
- Lower the heels under the bar, the knees staying straight.
- Rise onto the balls of the feet as high as they go.
- Keep the carriage steady and repeat slowly.
Common mistakes
Bending the knees to move the carriage: the ankles do all of it. Heels dropping fast under the bar: lower them slowly against the springs. Feet rolling out on the bar: keep the weight over the big toes.
Breathing
Exhale rising, inhale lowering.
