Lunge with Twist
A forward lunge with an unloaded twist at the bottom: the torso turns toward the front leg and back before you stand.
How to do it
Setup
Standing tall, arms bent in front of the chest, feet hip-width.
Steps
- Step forward and settle into the lunge.
- Turn the chest toward the front leg, hips still.
- Turn back and stand; switch legs.
Common mistakes
Twisting from the hips: the knee follows and caves; turn the ribs only. Turning before the lunge is set: land, then turn. Rushing the turn: slow both ways.
Breathing
Inhale into the lunge, exhale on the twist.
