Low-to-High Cable Twist

From the low pulley, sweep the handle diagonally up and across the body; the arms stay long and the trunk turns.

Low-to-High Cable Twist, illustrated

How to do it

Setup

Side-on to a low pulley, both hands on the handle at the near hip, staggered stance.

Steps

  1. Sweep the handle diagonally up and across to above the far shoulder.
  2. Arms long; the TORSO rotates.
  3. Return along the diagonal with tension.

Common mistakes

Arms lifting instead of the torso turning: lock them long; rotation is the engine. Hips frozen: the back foot pivots. Standing square: side-on start, full turn finish.

Breathing

Exhale on the upward sweep, inhale returning.
