Kettlebell Sumo Deadlift High Pull

The sumo deadlift high pull with a kettlebell in each hand: from a wide stance the bells leave the floor together and rise to the chest, elbows flaring high.

How to do it

Setup

Wide stance, toes out, a kettlebell in each hand on the floor between the feet, back flat.

Steps

  1. Stand up, driving the hips forward, both bells rising together.
  2. Keep pulling the bells to the chest, elbows up and out.
  3. Let them down to the hips, then sit back to the floor.

Common mistakes

Bells swinging forward away from the body: keep them close, rising straight up. One bell lagging behind the other: pull both at the same speed. Hips shooting up first: the chest and hips rise together off the floor.

Breathing

Inhale at the bottom, exhale through the pull.
