Kettlebell Jerk

From the rack, dip and drive the bell up with the legs, then dip again to catch it overhead on a straight arm; stand to lockout.

How to do it

Setup

Clean the bell to the rack – elbow on the ribs, forearm vertical, feet planted.

Steps

  1. Dip at the knees with the torso upright.
  2. Drive the bell up with the legs – the arm only guides.
  3. Dip again under the bell and catch it on a straight arm.
  4. Stand to lockout, then lower to the rack.

Common mistakes

Pressing instead of driving: the legs launch the bell; the arm stays soft until the catch. A long first dip: it is a bounce, not a squat. Catching on a bent arm: punch through to the lockout before you stand.

Breathing

Exhale on the drive, inhale as you reset the rack.
