Kettlebell Advanced Windmill
The kettlebell windmill with the free hand behind the back instead of sliding down the leg, so nothing props the side bend.
How to do it
Setup
Bell locked out overhead in one hand, feet wider than the hips and turned away from it, the free hand on the lower back, eyes on the bell.
Steps
- Push the hips toward the bell side and hinge sideways, the chest turning up.
- Go as low as the locked arm and the back allow, the free hand staying behind.
- Drive the hips back under the bell to stand tall.
Common mistakes
Reaching the free hand down for support: it stays on the back; that is the advanced part. Top arm drifting off vertical: keep it locked over the shoulder, eyes on the bell. Bending the front knee to go lower: the depth comes from the hip shift.
Breathing
Inhale hinging down, exhale rising.
