Hundred
The Pilates hundred on the mat: the head and shoulders curl up, the straight legs lift and the straight arms pump in small beats beside the hips.
How to do it
Setup
Lying on the back, arms long by the sides, legs together.
Steps
- Curl the head and shoulders up and lift the straight legs off the floor.
- Reach the arms just above the floor and pump them in small, quick beats.
- Keep the curl and the legs still; lower down to finish.
Common mistakes
Legs so low the lower back arches: raise them until it stays down. Pumping from the shoulders: the arms beat, the trunk stays still. Straining the neck: gaze at the thighs and let the belly hold the curl.
Breathing
Inhale for a few beats, exhale for a few beats.
