Fixed Bar Back Stretch

One hand on a fixed bar, sit back into a quarter squat and let the arm draw the blade forward; the upper back ROUNDS.

How to do it

Setup

Facing a fixed bar, one hand on it at navel height, feet hip-width and close in.

Steps

  1. Sit back into a quarter squat.
  2. Let the arm go long and the blade slide forward.
  3. Hold and breathe, then stand up and switch hands.

Common mistakes

Squeezing the blade back: let it slide forward; that is the stretch. Dropping back with a jerk: ease in and stop at a pull. Squatting deep: a quarter squat is enough.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
