Dumbbell Lying One-Arm Supinated Triceps Extension

The one-arm lying extension held underhand, palm toward the head; the grip is the only change from the overhand version.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on a bench, one bell above the shoulder, palm toward the head, free hand on the working arm.

Steps

  1. Lower the bell toward the head by bending the elbow.
  2. Keep the palm turned toward the head.
  3. Straighten the arm back over the shoulder.

Common mistakes

Grip turning back to neutral as you tire: keep the palm to the head. Wrist folding under the bell: keep it straight; go lighter. Lowering onto the face: control the bell and stop short.

Breathing

Inhale lowering, exhale extending.
