Dumbbell Incline Triceps Extension

The dumbbell lying extension on an incline bench; the arms start closer to overhead, which stretches the long head further.

How to do it

Setup

Incline bench, bells held above the head on straight arms, palms facing.

Steps

  1. Lower the bells behind the head by bending the elbows.
  2. Keep the elbows pointing up, not out.
  3. Extend back until the arms are straight.

Common mistakes

Elbows drifting apart: keep them shoulder-width. Upper arms dropping toward the face: hold their angle over the head. Heavy bells behind the head: the stretch is loaded; go lighter than on a flat bench.

Breathing

Inhale lowering, exhale extending.
