Dumbbell Glute Bridge Chest Press

The dumbbell floor press with the hips held up in a glute bridge; the raised hips tilt the press toward the lower chest and keep the glutes working.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on the back, knees bent, feet flat, hips lifted into a bridge, a dumbbell in each hand over the chest.

Steps

  1. Lower the bells to the sides of the chest, elbows about 45° from the body.
  2. Hold the hips up with the glutes the whole set.
  3. Press both bells back up over the chest.

Common mistakes

Hips sinking as the set goes on: squeeze the glutes and keep the bridge. Arching the lower back instead of bridging: ribs down, the hips rise from the glutes. Dropping the elbows hard onto the floor: lower them softly, then press.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale pressing.
