Crunch (Legs on Stability Ball)
The floor crunch with the calves resting on a stability ball; the raised legs flatten the lower back and take the hip flexors out.
How to do it
Setup
On your back, calves on top of the ball, hands at the temples.
Steps
- Curl the shoulders up toward the knees.
- Keep the ball still under the calves.
- Lower until the shoulder blades touch down.
Common mistakes
Pulling the ball in with the heels: the legs only rest on it; the abs curl. Elbows closing around the face: keep them wide. Ball rolling away: set it closer, hips and knees near 90°.
Breathing
Exhale on the crunch, inhale lowering.
