Cross-Body Hammer Curl, illustrated

How to do it

Setup

Neutral grip, bells at the sides.

Steps

  1. Curl one bell diagonally toward the OPPOSITE shoulder.
  2. Keep the thumb up the whole path.
  3. Lower along the same diagonal; alternate.

Common mistakes

Torso rotating to meet the bell: the arm crosses, the body does not. Bell stopping at the chest: reach the opposite shoulder. Elbow floating: it stays low and stable.

Breathing

Exhale on each curl, inhale lowering.
