Brachialis Narrow Pull-Ups

An Australian pull-up with the hands close together overhand, which moves the work toward the brachialis and the forearms.

How to do it

Setup

Under a bar set at hip height, body straight from heels to head, hands a fist apart in an overhand grip.

Steps

  1. Pull the chest up to the bar, elbows close to the body.
  2. Keep the body in one line from heels to shoulders.
  3. Lower to straight arms under control.

Common mistakes

Hips sagging toward the floor: squeeze the glutes and keep the line. Elbows flaring wide: keep them in; the narrow grip is the point. Stopping short of the bar: the chest touches, then lower.

Breathing

Exhale on the pull, inhale lowering.
