Bottle Weighted Straight-Legs Deadlift
The stiff-legged deadlift with a water bottle in each hand; the knees stay nearly straight, so the hamstrings take the long stretch.
How to do it
Setup
Standing tall, feet hip-width, knees nearly locked, a bottle by its handle in each hand at the thighs.
Steps
- Hinge forward with long legs, the bottles lowering toward the feet.
- Go as deep as the hamstrings allow with a flat back.
- Pull the hips forward to stand up tall.
Common mistakes
Setting the bottles on the floor to rest: keep them off the floor between reps. Rounding the back to reach the floor: the stretch, not the floor, is the target. Locking the knees hard: nearly straight, never jammed.
Breathing
Inhale hinging, exhale standing.
