Bodyweight Single-Leg Deadlift against Ball

The single-leg hinge with a stability ball pinned between the back foot and a wall: the free leg presses the ball the whole time, which steadies the balance.

How to do it

Setup

Back to a wall, a stability ball pinned between the wall and the raised back foot, hands at the chest.

Steps

  1. Hinge over the standing leg, pressing the ball into the wall with the back foot.
  2. Keep the ball from rolling as the torso lowers.
  3. Rise back to standing; switch legs after the set.

Common mistakes

Ball dropping as you hinge: keep pressing it into the wall. Standing knee locking: keep it soft. Rounding at the bottom: hinge only as far as the back stays flat.

Breathing

Inhale hinging, exhale standing.
