Bodyweight Half Split Squat Hold

The split squat held halfway down, the back knee well off the floor; a shorter lever for the front thigh than the full-depth hold.

How to do it

Setup

Split stance, feet a long step apart, torso upright, hands clasped in front of the chest.

Steps

  1. Lower halfway, both knees bent to about 45°.
  2. Hold still there, the weight spread over both feet.
  3. Stand up, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Sinking lower as the hold burns: keep the halfway depth you set. Weight drifting onto the back foot: keep most of it over the front heel. Knees locking between holds: stay soft in the stance.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
