Kettlebell Goblet Squat Mobility

A slow goblet squat holding the kettlebell by the handle at the chest, with a pause in the bottom where the elbows press the knees out; a mobility drill for the hips and ankles.

How to do it

Setup

Feet a little wider than the shoulders, toes out, the kettlebell held by its handle in both fists against the chest.

Steps

  1. Sink slowly into the deepest squat you can hold.
  2. Press the knees out with the elbows and stay there, breathing.
  3. Stand up slowly and repeat.

Common mistakes

Bouncing in the bottom: settle into it and stay still. Back rounding as you sink: go only as deep as the chest stays up. Heels lifting: keep the whole foot down; widen the stance if needed.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
