Barbell Reverse-Grip Floor Press

The floor press with an underhand grip: lying on the floor, the bar is pressed from the lower chest to lockout, the floor stopping the elbows.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on the floor, legs straight, the bar over the lower chest in an underhand grip about shoulder-width.

Steps

  1. Lower the bar until the upper arms touch the floor.
  2. Pause, then press up to straight arms.
  3. Keep the palms facing you and the wrists straight throughout.

Common mistakes

Wrists bending back under the underhand grip: stack them over the elbows. Bar drifting toward the face: press it up over the lower chest. Bouncing the arms off the floor: stop, then press.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale pressing from the pause.
