Barbell One-Arm Floor Press

The floor press with one hand gripping the bar at its center: lying flat, the bar is pressed from the chest to a straight arm and kept level.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on the floor, legs straight, one hand gripping the barbell at its center over the chest.

Steps

  1. Lower the bar until the upper arm touches the floor.
  2. Press it up to a straight arm, keeping it level.
  3. Pause at lockout, then lower again under control.

Common mistakes

Gripping off center: the bar tips; find the balance point first. Bouncing the arm off the floor: stop there, then press. Bar tilting at the top: keep the wrist straight under its center.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale pressing from the pause.
