Bar Band Single-Leg Reverse Hyperextension

From a high plank with the hands pinning a bar to the floor, one straight leg lifts behind against a band hooked to the bar; a banded kickback held in a plank.

How to do it

Setup

High plank, hands pressing a bar into the floor, the band from the bar looped around one foot, hips square.

Steps

  1. Lift the banded leg straight up behind until it is level with the torso.
  2. Squeeze that glute for a beat without the hips turning.
  3. Lower the foot back toward the floor; finish the set, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Hips opening toward the lifting leg: both hip bones face the floor. Arching the lower back to lift higher: level with the torso is enough. Hands easing off the bar: press it down or the band drags it away.

Breathing

Exhale as the leg rises, inhale lowering.
