Band Hip Abduction
The standing hip abduction against a band anchored low beside you and looped round the far ankle, so the pull grows as the leg moves out.
How to do it
Setup
Side-on to a rack with the band anchored low on the post, the loop around the far ankle, a hand on the rack.
Steps
- Sweep the far leg out to the side against the band.
- Keep the torso upright and the toes pointing forward.
- Let the leg return slowly; switch sides after the set.
Common mistakes
Leaning away from the rack to swing higher: stand tall; the hip lifts the leg. Letting the band snap the leg back: slow return. Standing too close to the anchor: step out until the band is taut at the start.
Breathing
Exhale on the sweep, inhale returning.
