Standing Toe Flexor Stretch

Facing a wall with the hands on it, set the toes of one foot up against the wall, heel down, and lean in; the sole and the underside of the toes stretch.

How to do it

Setup

Facing a wall, hands on it at chest height, the toes of one foot up against the wall, heel on the floor, the other foot close behind.

Steps

  1. Press the toes flat against the wall.
  2. Lean the hips gently toward the wall until the sole stretches.
  3. Hold and breathe, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Heel lifting off the floor: slide the foot back a little. Toes curling off the wall: keep them spread and flat against it. Stepping the back leg far away: that moves the stretch into the calf; keep the feet close.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
