Squatting Toe Stretch

Squatting on the balls of the feet with the heels up and the hands on the floor in front, lean forward so the toes bend back; the soles and toes stretch.

How to do it

Setup

Deep squat on the balls of the feet, heels lifted, knees forward, hands on the floor in front.

Steps

  1. Shift the weight slowly forward over the toes.
  2. Let the toes bend back until the soles stretch, the hands taking some weight.
  3. Hold and breathe, then rock back and lower the heels.

Common mistakes

Dropping the whole weight onto the toes: the hands on the floor share it. Knees collapsing inward: keep them over the toes. Holding through a cramp in the arch: rock back and shake the feet out.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
