Seated Toe Extensor Stretch

Seated with one ankle across the other knee, the fingers pull the toes down toward the sole, stretching the top of the foot; held for time.

How to do it

Setup

Seated on a chair, one ankle resting on the other knee, one hand bracing the ankle, the other hand's fingers over the tops of the toes.

Steps

  1. Hold the ankle still with one hand.
  2. Pull the toes down toward the sole until the top of the foot stretches, and hold.
  3. Release, then switch feet.

Common mistakes

Tugging at the tips of the toes: move them slowly as one group. Letting the ankle turn: brace it with the free hand. Forcing a foot that cramps: let go and try again more gently.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
