Seated Pec Deck on a Chair

The pec deck without a machine, seated on a chair: the bent arms swing together in front of the face and open again.

How to do it

Setup

Seated tall on a chair, upper arms out at shoulder height, elbows bent to about 90°, fists up.

Steps

  1. Close the arms until the forearms press together, fists up.
  2. Keep the elbows at shoulder height as they meet.
  3. Open the arms back to the start with control.

Common mistakes

Letting the arms sag as they close: the upper arms stay level with the shoulders. Leaning forward to close the gap: sit tall. Moving without tension: squeeze as if against a machine.

Breathing

Exhale on the squeeze, inhale opening.
