Seated Arm Crossover and Chest Out on a Chair
The seated arm crossover that opens further: after each cross, the arms sweep back past the shoulders and the chest lifts, stretching its front.
How to do it
Setup
Seated upright on a chair, straight arms out to the sides, palms forward.
Steps
- Cross the straight arms in front of the chest.
- Sweep them wide and slightly back, pushing the chest out.
- Hold the open position for a beat, then cross again.
Common mistakes
Arching the lower back to push the chest out: lift the chest, not the belly. Arms dropping as they sweep back: keep them at shoulder height. Forcing the stretch: open only as far as is comfortable.
