Seated Median Nerve Mobilization

A seated glide for the median nerve: with the arm out to the side, the wrist bends back as the head tips away, then both ease off.

How to do it

Setup

Seated tall on a chair, one arm out to the side at shoulder height, palm up, elbow straight.

Steps

  1. Bend the wrist back so the fingers point up and the palm faces out.
  2. Tip the head gently away from the arm.
  3. Bring the head back to the middle and ease the wrist, then repeat slowly.

Common mistakes

Going into tingling or pain: stop short of it and make the movement smaller. Lifting the shoulder toward the ear: keep it down; the arm and the head move, the shoulder does not. Parking in the end position: move in and out slowly without holding the pull.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
