Medicine Ball Sit-Up
The full sit-up with a medicine ball held against the chest in both hands; the knees stay bent and the ball rides with the torso all the way up.
How to do it
Setup
Lying on the back, knees bent, feet flat, the ball held to the chest in both hands.
Steps
- Curl up through the spine to sitting upright.
- Keep the ball pinned to the chest the whole way.
- Roll back down under control until the shoulders touch.
Common mistakes
Pushing the ball away to swing up: it stays against the chest. Feet lifting off the floor: plant the heels or anchor the feet. Dropping back down flat: lower through the spine, slower than you rose.
Breathing
Exhale sitting up, inhale lowering.
