Machine Neck Side Flexion (Plate-Loaded)
Side of the head against the pad of a plate-loaded neck machine; tip the ear toward the shoulder against the lever, one side at a time.
How to do it
Setup
Seated upright, one side of the head on the pad, neck in line with the pivot, the far hand on a handle.
Steps
- Start with the head tipped slightly away from the pad.
- Press the ear toward the near shoulder without turning the face.
- Return slowly; finish the side, then set up for the other.
Common mistakes
Turning the face toward the pad: the nose stays forward, only the ear travels. Hiking the shoulder up to meet the ear: the shoulder stays down. Heavy plates on a small muscle: light load, slow reps.
Breathing
Exhale on the tilt, inhale returning.
