Lying Floor Hyperextension with Towel

Face down, lift the chest with the arms straight overhead, holding a towel taut between the hands; the reaching arms make the longest lever of the floor extensions.

How to do it

Setup

Face down, legs long, arms straight overhead holding a towel pulled taut.

Steps

  1. Pull the towel ends apart and lift the chest and arms together.
  2. Pause with the arms in line with the ears.
  3. Lower chest and arms to the floor, the towel still taut.

Common mistakes

Towel sagging: pull it apart and keep the arms straight. Arms dropping below the head on the lift: they stay in line with the ears. Heaving with the legs: they stay long on the floor.

Breathing

Exhale on the lift, inhale lowering.
